Theatre, banquet or U-shape? Choosing your room setup

The same hall can feel like a grand wedding, an intimate conference, or a lively reception — and the difference is often just the seating layout. Before you send an enquiry, it helps to picture how your guests will be arranged. Here are the five setups we plan most often.
Theatre
Rows of chairs facing a stage, no tables. This is the highest-capacity seated layout, ideal for ceremonies, keynotes and cultural programmes where everyone’s attention points one way. Guests sit close together, so the room feels full and energetic.
Banquet rounds
Round tables of ten, spread across the floor. The classic choice for weddings and receptions with a full meal — it encourages conversation at each table and leaves room for a dance floor or stage. Capacity is lower than theatre because tables take space, but the experience is warmer.
Classroom
Rows of tables with chairs behind them, all facing front. Best for training sessions, workshops and seminars where guests need a surface to write or use a laptop. Comfortable for long sittings.
Cocktail / floating
Mostly standing, with a few high tables to gather around. This is the highest-capacity layout of all because there are no seats to place — perfect for networking evenings, product launches and lively receptions where you want guests mingling rather than seated.
U-shape
Tables arranged in an open U so everyone can see one another. Reserved for board meetings and small, high-focus gatherings — intimate by design, and therefore the smallest capacity.
